On 3 September 2019, H.E. Mr. Songphol Sukchan, Ambassador of Thailand to Indonesia, hosted lunch for Mr. Maspiyono, Chair of the Thailand Relations Committee at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN). Mr. Kirana Limpaphayom, Chair of the Thai Business Club in Indonesia (TBCI) and the newly appointed TBCI committee, along with representatives from the Thai Trade Center, Board of Investment, Tourism Authority of Thailand, and Thai Airways also attended the event.
Both sides discussed ways to promote cooperation between the Thai-Indonesian business sectors, and how to strengthen mechanisms to enhance bilateral trade and investment. Currently, there are 4 organizations: in Indonesia there is TBCI and Thailand Relations Committee from KADIN, and in Thailand there is the Thailand-Indonesia Business Council and the Indonesia – Thai Chamber of Commerce (INTCC). Both sides hope that these organizations will help increase bilateral economic relations, and also promote other activities in celebration of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Indonesia in 2020. Some of these activities include organizing a Business Summit to identify the potentials of both countries as well as the challenges in doing business in each country, holding a Business Forum before the Thailand-Indonesia Joint Commission (JC), as well as hosting golf events to strengthen relations between Thai and Indonesian business people.
