On 15 January 2026, H.E. Mr. Prapan Disyatat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Indonesia, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, together with the representatives of the Thai Community in Indonesia, including Thai Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, Thai Business Club in Indonesia and Thai Women’s Association in Indonesia, handed over a donation of IDR 380 million, along with relief items such as sanitary supplies, mosquito net, stationery and toys to Mr. A.M. Fachir, Secretary-General of Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI). The contribution aims to support PMI’s ongoing humanitarian assistance efforts in the flood-affected area in Sumatra.
The initiative by the Thai Community in Indonesia is a part of the “Doing the Good Deeds” project, undertaken in remembrance of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and also reflects solidarity with Indonesia, Thailand’s long-time friend, during this challenging time.
On this occasion, the PMI Secretary-General expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all donors, highlighting the close and cordial relations between Thailand and Indonesia, as well as the timely support extended during times of need. He also mentioned that the flood and landslides in Sumatra have resulted in more than 1,000 fatalities and affected over 3.3 million people in the region. PMI has been providing continuous humanitarian assistance to affected communities including provision of clean water, restoration of communication channels and internet connectivity and psychosocial support.
