On 15–16 September 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Jakarta organized a Thai Cooking Workshop for the Thai community in Indonesia, interested Indonesians, and Indonesian cooking instructors, at Arkamaya Culinary Education in Jakarta. The workshop featured expert instructors from Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University, who shared their knowledge and techniques in Thai cuisine. More than 130 participants took part in the workshop.
On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Prapan Disyatat, Ambassador, presided over the opening ceremony and emphasized the importance of Thai cuisine as an integral part of Thai culture. He noted that learning through hands-on cooking provides an opportunity to gain a closer understanding of Thai cuisine and culture, while also contributing to the promotion of friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of Thailand and Indonesia. Thai cuisine thus served as a medium for cultural exchange and creating shared experiences among participants from both countries.
The workshop provided participants with an opportunity to learn about Thai cuisine, observe demonstrations of Thai cooking techniques by expert instructors, and prepare Thai dishes themselves under the close supervision and guidance of the instructors. Participants learned to prepare a variety of Thai dishes, including Gaeng Kiew Wan (Green Curry), Khao Kluk Kapi (Shrimp Paste Rice), Foi Thong (Golden Egg Yolk Threads), and Med Kanun (Thai Mung Bean Dessert). All ingredients used in the workshop were locally available in Indonesia, allowing participants to apply the knowledge and techniques they gained to prepare Thai dishes themselves.
