The Royal Thai Embassy in Jakarta held a special lecture “From Story to Screen: The Art of Storytelling in Thai Cinema” on 11 September 2026

On 11 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Prapan Disyatat, Ambassador of Thailand to Indonesia, gave the opening remark at the special lecture “From Story to Screen: The Art of Storytelling in Thai Cinema” by Mr. Chayanop Boonprakob, Director of “Gohan,” at Universitas Bina Nusantara (BINUS), Jakarta, Indonesia. Dr. Nelly, S.Kom., M.M., Rector of BINUS, welcomed the Ambassador and the Thai delegation to the university. There were over 130 participants including lecturers, faculty members and Film Studies students of BINUS, as well as members from the Indonesian film industry such as producers, directors, writers, and actors. The event is a part of the Thai Film Festival 2026.

This year marked the first time that the Embassy invited a film director to give a special lecture during the Thai Film Festival. Mr. Chayanop’s participation as a special lecturer added a new dimension to the Thai Film Festival as a platform to share experience and knowledge, inspire those in the film industry, as well as lay a foundation for further cooperation on filmmaking between Thailand and Indonesia.

Mr. Chayanop is a veteran Thai director whose works include various successful movies such as “Gohan,” “SuckSeed,” “Friend Zone,” and “The Red Envelope.”
