On 12 – 13 September 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Jakarta held the Thai Film Festival 2026 at Cinema XXI, Senayan City, Jakarta. The event included the special screenings of 4 Thai films, namely, “Gohan,” “How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies,” “Pee Mak,” and “Death Whisperer 3.” The Festival is held annually to promote Thai films among Indonesians and consecutively foster the cultural cooperation between Thailand and Indonesia. There were over 700 participants including H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, Ambassadors of Foreign Missions to Indonesia, representatives from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Creative Economy, diplomatic corps, Thai communities in Indonesia, and the Indonesian public.
On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Prapan Disyatat, Ambassador of Thailand to Indonesia, delivered a remark at the opening ceremony, highlighting the importance of the film industry as a medium to connect people from different cultures and languages which in turn fosters closer cooperation on culture between Thailand and Indonesia. Furthermore, the opening ceremony also included a special talk by Mr. Chayanop Boonprakob, Director of “Gohan,” under the theme “Behind the Scenes: The Making of Gohan,” which is the first time the Embassy has organised such an activity.
