On 20 April 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy, in collaboration with the Thai Women’s Association in Indonesia (TWA) and Sanuk Mak, organised “Amazing Songkran 2024” to celebrate Songkran Day, traditional Thai New Year festival and promote this festival to Indonesians. The event was attended by more than 350 people.
The event comprised (1) Thai traditional ceremonies, namely, pouring water on the Buddha statue and asking for blessing on the occasion of the Thai New Year from Ambassador Prapan Disyatat, Ambassador Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, and their spouses, as well as the Thai community’s representative; (2) Thai food bazaar supported by the Royal Thai Embassy, Team Thailand in Jakarta, Thai Women’s Association in Indonesia (TWA), and Sanuk Mak; (3) Lucky Draw and Quizzes about Thailand to win prizes contributed by Team Thailand in Jakarta and Thai companies, including PT Central Retail Indonesia, KBank, and PTT Global Chemical ; (4) Songkran traditional dance, (5) live music performances supported by SCG Indonesia and (6) water splashing activities.
The event left positive impressions on Thai and Indonesian participants and sparked many Indonesians’ interest to travel to Thailand to participate in Songkran in the coming years.
