From 9 to 12 November 2025, H.E. Mr. Prapan Disyatat led a delegation from the Royal Thai Embassy and the Office of Agricultural Affairs on a visit to Surabaya and nearby cities to explore their economic and investment potentials. During the visit, Ambassador Prapan and the delegation visited the Halal Industrial Park Sidoarjo – Indonesia’s first Halal industrial park, established in 2024, and met with Mr. Adi Saputra Tedja Surya, President Director of PT. Makmur Berkah Amanda Tbk, which manages the industrial park. The delegation also visited Thai businesses operating in East Java, including (1) Indo World in Mojokerto, a manufacturer of UHT coconut milk, canned coconut milk, and virgin coconut oil for export, and (2) PT. Kebun Tebu Mas (KTM) under the Mitr Phol Group in Lamongan, a sugar producer, and exchanged views on their business plans, potentials, opportunities, and challenges in doing business.
On this occasion, Ambassador Prapan hosted a dinner in honour of Mrs. Onny Asri Maryam Almasyhur, Thai Honorary Consul in Surabaya, as well as Thai business representatives in East Java, to exchange views on opportunities and challenges related to their operations. Ambassador Prapan also met with Thai students who are pursuing their undergraduate and master’s degree to discuss their well-being in Indonesia.
East Java Province, covers approximately 48,000 sq. km., and has a population of about 42 million people, including around 24.7 million of working age. Surabaya, the provincial capital and Indonesia’s second-largest economic centre, is home to Tanjung Perak, the country’s second most important port. East Java serves as a major production base for various industries, contributing 14.26 percent to Indonesia’s national GDP.
