On 19 July 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Thailand and the Ministry of Culture of Indonesia, organised the opening ceremony of the Thai-Indonesian Film Festival 2025 at CGV Cinemas, Grand Indonesia. The event featured special screenings of two selected films: My Love is Soup (Thailand) and Bintang Ketcil Restored (Indonesia). Over 140 participants attended this event, including H.E. Mr. Prapan Disyatat, Ambassador of Thailand to Indonesia, Mrs. Rakchanok Kojaranont, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Culture of Thailand, Mr. Mardisontori, Director for Cultural Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture of Indonesia. Also in attendance were heads and members of Team Thailand offices, and their spouses, members of diplomatic corps and the Thai community, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Culture of Indonesia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and members of the Indonesian public.
With the aim of using film as a medium to strengthen cultural ties and raise awareness of each other’s heritage, the Thai-Indonesian Film Festival 2025 is held on 19 and 26 July and 2 August 2025 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Indonesia. The festival features special screenings of 6 movies selected by the Ministry of Culture of both countries, three from Thailand – My Love is Soup, Isan Nikah, and Mantra Warrior: The Legend of the Eight Moons, and three from Indonesia – Bintang Ketcil Restored, Cek Toko Sebelah, and Jumbo.
