Symphony of Friendship: Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Thailand – Indonesia Diplomatic Relations

On 11 July 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy, in collaboration with Permata Bank, Bangkok Bank, and Bandung Philharmonic, hosted a concert in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Thailand-Indonesia diplomatic relations titled “Symphony of Friendship: Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Thailand – Indonesia Diplomatic Relations” at the Jakarta Concert Hall. H.E. Mr. Prapan Disyatat, Ambassador of Thailand to Indonesia, Mrs. Meliza M. Rusli, President Director of Permata Bank, Mr. Kobsak Pootrakool, Director and Senior Executive Vice President of Bangkok Bank delivered opening remarks highlighting the significance of this momentous occasion. The celebratory concert featured Mr. Erwin Gutawa, a renowned Indonesian conductor of the Erwin Gutawa Orchestra, and Asst. Prof. Apichai Leamthong, Head of Undergraduate Studies Rangsit University Conservatory of Music and Principal Cellist of the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, and Mr. Nachapon Tiptan, Concertmaster of the Bandung Philharmonic.

The performances  were attended by over 500 participants including members of the diplomatic corps, Team Thailand officers and their spouses, the representatives of the Thai Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, the Thai community, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs of Indonesia.

The concert featured two segments. The first, “Ethonochestra,” presented Indonesian classics arranged by the Erwin Gutawa Orchestra, celebrating Indonesia’s musical richness. The second segment paid tribute to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great with three of his royal compositions — Love at Sundown, Near Dawn, and Oh I Say — showcasing his exceptional musical talent. The evening concluded with Lao Duang Dueng, performed by Thai musicians and sung in Thai by Indonesian vocalists, beautifully symbolizing how music bridges cultures and strengthens friendship.
