On 25 September 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Jakarta, together with the delegation from Thailand, namely, Miss Sirima Vongsarakit, Executive Director of the Thai Peranakan Association, and Miss Yaowapa Namboonlur, Representative of Jaya Studio and the Department of Cultural Promotion, handed over the kebaya and fabrics from Thailand to the National Museum of Indonesia to be displayed at the Southeast Asia (SEA) Fashion Installation from 12 October 2026 – 8 January 2027 at the museum. There were representatives from the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, National Museum of Indonesia, and Jakarta Fashion Week, who were responsible for the handover. In this occasion, both sides discussed the exhibition and conservation of the kebaya and the fabrics from Thailand as well.
Thailand was invited to participate in the SEA Fashion Installation by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Jakarta Fashion Week. The event is a part of Jakarta Fashion Week 2026 with the objective of presenting the uniqueness of the kebaya and fabrics from 11 Southeast Asian countries, as well as the cultural connection among each other. The expected number of participants are 80,000 – 100,000 people.
